Chapter 1
Ethan Graves, as usual, dragged his somewhat weary body into the supermarket located in a small American town. Sunlight streamed through the large glass windows of the supermarket, forming patches of light on the floor. A faint mixture of cleaning products and merchandise scents permeated the air.
Ethan was tall and well-built, with messy brown hair and deep, tired yet determined eyes. He wore a blue supermarket uniform, which looked neat and tidy on him. As he made his way to the warehouse, he mentally went over his work tasks for the day.
Entering the warehouse, Ethan began moving the goods. Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, Ethan!" It was Lily, a beautiful blonde with flowing locks and captivating blue eyes that seemed to hold the stars. Her delicate features and dimpled smile radiated youth and vitality as she wore a white blouse and blue jeans.
"Good morning, Lily," Ethan replied with a smile.
"You don't look too happy. What's wrong?" Lily asked with concern, her brow furrowed.
Ethan shrugged helplessly, "It's that manager again, always giving me a hard time. I don't know what I'm doing wrong."
Lily fumed, "That manager is so unreasonable! He's always so harsh on people. Don't let it get to you."
As they chatted, they began restocking the shelves. The supermarket was bustling with activity, the cacophony of voices intertwining.
Suddenly, a group of African Americans entered. They seemed unusual, with glazed eyes and uncoordinated movements. One tall, bearded man with bloodshot eyes clearly showed signs of heavy drug use. His companions were also disoriented, staggering as they walked.
The group began ransacking the store, and the customers panicked, scattering to the corners.
"Everyone, don't move! Hand over your money and valuables!" the bearded man shouted hoarsely and aggressively.
Ethan and Lily were stunned, unsure of what to do. Ethan's mind raced, trying to figure out how to respond.
The manager rushed out of his office, his face pale with fear. "What do you want? Get out of here!" he trembled.
The bearded man rushed at the manager, grabbing his collar. "Shut up! Give us the money!"
The manager, shaking uncontrollably, stammered, "I... I don't have any money."
Enraged, the man pushed the manager to the ground. "Don't lie to us! Get the money out!"
Another assailant spotted a young girl hiding in the corner and approached her, saying, "This little girl looks cute. Let's take her with us."
The girl's terrified cries tore at Ethan's heart. He couldn't hold back anymore and rushed the man, pushing him away. "Let her go!"
Infuriated, the man pulled a knife from his pocket. "You want to die, huh? Trying to interfere with us?"
Ethan stood his ground, his eyes resolute. "You can't hurt innocent people!"
The man lunged at Ethan with the knife, but Ethan nimbly dodged the attack. He then swiftly kicked the man's wrist, disarming him.
The other assailants, seeing their companion attacked, rushed at Ethan. Undaunted, Ethan engaged in a fierce battle, his movements swift and precise, striking the vital points of his opponents.
Lily watched anxiously from the sidelines, her heart filled with worry. But she wasn't idle, secretly calling the police.
After a fierce struggle, Ethan successfully subdued the criminals. The police arrived and apprehended the assailants.
The customers gathered around, praising Ethan's bravery. Ethan smiled sheepishly, his fatigue evident.
The incident was quickly reported by the media, and Ethan became a local hero, his photos appearing on television and in newspapers.
However, Ethan was unaware that his actions had caught the attention of a mysterious figure. In a dark room, a shadowy presence watched the television, their eyes gleaming with a mysterious light, as if plotting something.
Back home, Ethan lay on his bed, reflecting on the day's events. He was filled with a sense of wonder, never expecting to become a hero. But he knew this was just the beginning, and more challenges awaited him in the future.
