Chapter 2 lab coats
After a brief rest at a small inn, Aelara and the strange man began to move cautiously, trying to gather more information about Alex and Kelly to formulate their revenge plan. However, fate seemed determined not to grant them their wishes easily.
While out searching for news, Aelara suddenly felt a strong wave of dizziness. Before she could react, darkness enveloped her, and she lost consciousness. When she awoke again, she found herself in a strange and cold laboratory.
The air was filled with the sharp smell of disinfectant, and various complex instruments and equipment surrounded her. Terrified, Aelara tried to struggle, only to realize she was firmly bound to an examination table, unable to move.
A few people in white lab coats bustled around her, their faces expressionless, as if Aelara were merely an experimental object rather than a living person. One of them approached her slowly, holding a large syringe.
A surge of fear filled Aelara; she had no idea what they intended to do to her. "Who are you? Why have you brought me here?" she shouted, but no one answered.
The person reached her side and unhesitatingly inserted the syringe into her arm, beginning to draw her blood. Aelara felt a sharp pain and struggled desperately, but it was futile.
As her blood was drawn, her consciousness began to fade. Memories of her past flooded back, reminding her of her naivety and foolishness. She recalled how she had trusted Alex and Kelly without reservation, considering them the most important people in her life. Now, she felt betrayed by them, taken to this terrifying laboratory, and turned into someone else's experiment.
"I was such a fool," Aelara chastised herself inwardly. "Why didn't I see their true colors sooner? Why did I trust others so easily?"
She remembered how she had given up her dreams for Alex and ignored her own feelings for Kelly. She had devoted everything to them, only to end up in this situation. Aelara felt overwhelming regret and guilt.
At the other end of the laboratory, a mysterious man sat in front of a monitor, quietly observing Aelara's every move. His eyes were filled with curiosity and anticipation, as if she were a precious experimental subject capable of yielding significant breakthroughs.
This man, Victor Stone, was a mad scientist obsessed with researching human rebirth, seeking a way to achieve true immortality. Upon hearing Aelara's rebirth story, he had immediately sent people to capture her for in-depth study.
Victor watched Aelara's pained expression as her blood was drawn, feeling not a shred of compassion. In his view, any sacrifice was justified for the advancement of science. He believed that if he could uncover the secret of Aelara's rebirth, he would become the greatest scientist in the world.
As time passed, more and more of Aelara's blood was extracted. Her face grew pale, and her body became weaker. Yet, her heart was filled with anger and unwillingness. She refused to accept being someone else's experiment; she had to find a way to escape this dreadful place.
Just when Aelara felt despair creeping in, she noticed a loose screw on the examination table. A flicker of hope ignited within her as she began to quietly twist the screw with her fingers. After some effort, she finally managed to loosen it.
Carefully, Aelara freed herself from her restraints and quietly climbed down from the table. She hid in a corner, observing her surroundings. The laboratory personnel seemed unaware that she had escaped, still focused on their experiments.
Aelara knew she had to leave quickly; if she were discovered, she would have no chance of escaping. She stealthily made her way toward the laboratory exit, carefully avoiding the busy researchers.
When she finally reached the door, she discovered it was locked. Her heart sank, but she refused to give up. She started searching for tools to open the door.
In a corner, Aelara found a wrench. She picked it up and attempted to use it to unlock the door. After some effort, the lock finally clicked open. Aelara pushed the door and dashed outside.
She had no idea where she was or which way to go, but she knew she had to get far away from the terrifying laboratory. She began to run desperately, evading any potential dangers along the way.
As she ran, fear and anxiety filled her heart. She didn’t know if she could escape Victor's pursuit or if she would be able to find that strange man to continue their revenge plan.
But there was no time to dwell on those thoughts; all she could do was keep running, hoping to find a safe place. Eventually, she spotted an abandoned factory. Without hesitation, she rushed inside and hid in a corner.
Leaning against the wall, Aelara gasped for breath. Her body was extremely weak, but her heart was filled with a resolute determination. She knew she couldn’t give up like this. She had to survive, for herself and for those who had been betrayed and hurt.
While resting, Aelara suddenly heard footsteps approaching. Her heart raced; she didn’t know who was coming or if they were Victor's people.
The footsteps grew louder, and Aelara tightened her grip on the wrench, ready to defend herself.
Finally, a figure appeared before her. Aelara looked at the silhouette with trepidation, her heart filled with caution.
When she recognized the figure's face, relief washed over her. It was the strange man; he had finally found her.
"Are you okay?" he asked with concern.
Aelara shook her head and replied, "I'm fine. We need to leave here quickly."
The man nodded and led Aelara out of the abandoned factory. They reached a safe place and began discussing their next steps.
"We can't be passive any longer," the man said. "We need to take the initiative, find Alex and Kelly, and make them pay for what they've done."
Aelara nodded in agreement. "I agree. But how do we do that?"
After a moment of silence, the man replied, "We can exploit their weaknesses. I've done some digging, and Alex has a significant flaw—he's extremely greedy. We can use this to set a trap and make him walk right into it."
Hearing the man's plan filled Aelara with anticipation. She knew this was their best chance for revenge. She decided to work with him to meticulously plan this trap, ensuring Alex and Kelly would face the consequences they deserved.
