Home Man Steamy The Rejected Ex-mate secret Identity

Chapter 1: The Pain of Abandonment

In the mysterious little town of Lunansa, the morning light drapes over the ancient buildings and winding streets like a golden veil. Wisps of fog rise gently, adding a dreamlike quality to the entire town. Lunansa, a place steeped in mystery, has always been surrounded by various legends and secrets. Here, secrets seem to be an invisible currency, exchanged to gauge each other's worth.

Fiona Everly trudged along the cobblestone path with heavy steps. Her gaze was vacant and lost, her heart filled with endless pain. Once, she was the envy of many; as the beloved partner of the powerful leader Alaric, her life was like a beautiful dream.

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, creating patches of light on the ground. Fiona passed by shop after shop with their doors tightly shut; those once-familiar signs now felt so foreign. She could sense the stares of those around her, filled with suspicion and disdain, like sharp thorns piercing her heart.

“Look at her, the woman abandoned by the leader,” a sharp voice called out from a corner of the street.

Fiona shuddered slightly, biting her lip tightly to keep her emotions in check. She quickened her pace, wanting to escape the malicious glances and words.

“I heard she betrayed the leader; how shameless,” another voice chimed in from nearby.

A surge of anger and grievance welled up in Fiona’s heart. She stopped, turned around, and glared at those gossiping about her.

“On what grounds do you say that? I did not betray Alaric!” Her voice trembled with anger.

“Evidence is conclusive; everyone is talking about it. Do you still want to deny it?” A woman stepped forward, her eyes filled with contempt.

Fiona clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms. She wanted to argue, but found herself at a loss for words. Those baseless accusations felt like a heavy shackle, suffocating her.

She turned and continued walking, tears welling up in her eyes. She couldn’t understand why fate had to be so cruel to her. She and Alaric had once loved each other so deeply; those beautiful memories had now turned into painful torment.

Reaching the edge of the town, Fiona leaned against an ancient tree, slowly sliding down to the ground. She gazed into the distance, her thoughts drifting back to the past.

Back then, she and Alaric would stroll together on this land, hand in hand, sharing dreams and hopes. Alaric's gaze was filled with tenderness and love; every word he spoke melted her heart.

“Fiona, you are the most important person in my life. I will always protect you,” Alaric’s words seemed to echo in her ears.

They met on a warm spring day. That day, a grand celebration took place in the town, with people dressed in vibrant clothing and smiles of joy lighting up their faces. Fiona was pulled to the celebration by her friends, her beauty and kindness instantly catching everyone’s attention. And Alaric, as the town's leader, commanded respect and admiration.

When their eyes met, time seemed to stop. Fiona felt her heart race, a feeling she had never experienced before surged within her. Alaric was equally captivated by Fiona’s beauty and found himself drawn to her.

“Hello, beautiful lady. I am Alaric, the leader of this town,” Alaric's voice was deep and magnetic.

Fiona's cheeks flushed slightly, and she shyly lowered her head.

  “Hello, Leader. I am Fiona.”

From that moment on, their fates intertwined. Alaric began to appear frequently in Fiona’s life, showing her every corner of the town and sharing its history and legends. Fiona was drawn to Alaric’s wisdom and bravery, gradually falling in love with him.

They spent many wonderful times together, facing various challenges in the town. Once, the town suffered a severe drought, and the crops failed, leaving the people in despair. Alaric led everyone to search for water, and Fiona actively participated. Together, they found a hidden spring, resolving the town’s crisis.

During those days, their love deepened. They made vows under the starry sky to always be together, protecting the town and each other.

However, happiness is often fleeting. Strange rumors began to circulate in the town, claiming that Fiona had betrayed Alaric and conspired with a mysterious stranger. These rumors spread like wildfire, catching Fiona completely off guard.

She tried to explain and prove her innocence, but no one was willing to listen to her defense. The gazes around her were filled with suspicion and disdain, as if she were a heinous criminal. Under the influence of these rumors, Alaric's attitude toward her changed drastically.

He began to distance himself, no longer treating her with the gentleness he once had. Fiona's heart felt as if it had been pierced by countless blades; she could not accept this sudden change. She couldn't understand why Alaric would believe such baseless rumors and why he wouldn’t trust her loyalty.

Leaning against the tree, tears streamed down her face. She recalled the last time she saw Alaric.

It was a gloomy day, the sky overcast, as if foretelling an impending storm. Fiona was summoned to the leader’s palace, her heart filled with unease. When she entered the palace, she saw Alaric sitting on the throne, his gaze cold and unfamiliar.

“Fiona, do you know your crime?” Alaric’s voice was icy and merciless.

Fiona trembled slightly, raising her head to look firmly at Alaric.

“I don’t know what crime I committed, Alaric. I have always been loyal to you.”

A flicker of anger crossed Alaric's face.

“The evidence is conclusive; do you still want to deny it? Someone saw you with a mysterious stranger, and you were behaving intimately. Doesn’t that say enough?”

Despair surged within Fiona. She knew she was being wronged, but she could not prove her innocence.

“Alaric, you must believe me. I haven’t done anything to betray you. That stranger only asked me for directions; we had no intimate interactions.”

Alaric shook his head, disappointment filling his eyes.

“I once trusted you so much, Fiona. But now, I can no longer believe you. Leave this town, and never return.”

Fiona’s tears overflowed, and she looked at Alaric in despair.

“Alaric, you can’t treat me like this. I love you; I have always loved you.”

Alaric did not look at her again; he waved his hand, signaling the guards to take Fiona away.

Fiona was expelled from the palace, her heart shattered. She didn’t know where to go or how to face it all. She felt like someone abandoned by the world, lonely and helpless.

At that moment, a familiar figure appeared in her sight. It was Alaric’s trusted aide, Carl.

Carl approached Fiona, his eyes filled with sympathy.

“Fiona, the leader… he had no choice,” Carl’s voice was low and hoarse.

Fiona looked up, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

“Carl, tell me, what is going on? Why would Alaric believe those rumors?” she asked urgently.

Carl sighed and shook his head.

“I don’t know the specifics, but I can sense that the leader is also suffering. These rumors came too suddenly, and it seems there is a mysterious force behind them.”

Fiona’s heart sank. A mysterious force? Could it be that someone was deliberately orchestrating all of this?

She stood up, her eyes filled with determination.

“I won’t just sit back and do nothing. I must uncover the truth and prove my innocence.”

Carl looked at Fiona, a sense of admiration swelling within him.

“Fiona, you must be careful. The situation is complicated, and you may face more dangers.”

Fiona nodded and turned to leave. She knew her path would be fraught with difficulties, but she had no other choice. For her dignity, and for her love with Alaric, she had to face everything bravely.

Fiona walked through the streets of the town, her heart filled with confusion and unease. She didn’t know what that mysterious force was or where to start looking for the truth. She decided to return home first to gather her thoughts.

When she returned home, she found her house in disarray. A wave of fear washed over her. Was someone searching for something? She carefully checked her home and found no valuable items missing. However, she discovered a note on the table with a line written on it: “Your fate is already sealed; do not attempt to resist.”
