During this time in college, sunlight streamed through the window, casting bright patches of light on my desk, as if reminding me that today was a brand new beginning. However, sitting in front of a pile of unfinished assignments and mounting tuition bills, I felt utterly powerless. My name is Jenna, an ordinary college student dreaming of finding my place in this vibrant world—while also hoping to earn some money to fill my wallet.

"I need to find a job for those drinks," I mumbled, thinking about my living expenses. The meager budget each semester made my head spin. As a college student, the daily grind for high tuition and living costs felt particularly intense.

So, I opened my notebook and decided to start searching for part-time work. The chaotic atmosphere surrounding my desk seemed to fade away, and I could almost hear the sound of the keyboard echoing in my self-talk.

"Finding a job, oh, what a challenge," I sighed. I quickly searched online for any suitable positions. My first thought was the library, but there, I always felt overwhelmed by the pressure of knowledge, as if every book was staring at me.

"Besides, I can't just keep revisiting my 'hard work is the way to knowledge' philosophy; I need to find some practical jobs," I said to myself, calculating how to navigate uncharted job territories.

Gradually, various job listings began to appear on the screen, and one caught my eye: "Hiring a babysitter—must love children and have a good sense of humor."

"Hey, this sounds good," I murmured, imagining myself playing with kids at a playground. Although I had never taken care of children, the idea of interacting with them reminded me of my own childhood.

"This seems like a job that would make me happy; I could be their superhero with just a toy," I chuckled, wondering if this child could bring me laughter.

"Let’s see this listing: ‘Requires flexible hours and a patient demeanor.’" I read it aloud tentatively but then thought, "Patience? Oh dear, I might not have that much."

Suddenly, my roommate Amy walked in, lazily draping herself over my shoulder. "Hey, Jenna! What are you up to? Any major discoveries?"

"I'm looking for a part-time job," I replied, "this seems much easier; I think I might try babysitting."

Amy raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her face. "Babysitting? Are you sure? Those little ones can drive you crazy! The logic of a six-year-old is totally different from ours!"

I rolled my eyes and laughed, "Maybe, but at least I could save them as Super Babysitter, or they could unleash endless childhood joy under my guidance!"

Amy shook her head, unable to contain her laughter. "You mean, ‘Alright, today is your cosmic adventure; are you ready to meet starfish and wiggly penguins?’"

"Oh, absolutely! Perfect for your background!" I laughed too, picturing myself leading the kids into a world of imagination.

"Well, I have to remind you, is this for real?"

"Relax. It's just a game for money. For these hot dogs, I definitely don’t want to be dragged around by kids."

"Just remember, when you’re being led by little ones, you’ll absolutely need superhuman courage!" Amy teased.

Despite Amy's teasing, I had already begun to look forward to this job. I continued browsing online job listings, hoping to find more opportunities along the way. My mood fluctuated throughout the process.

"Okay, I’ll give them a call," I said, checking my appearance in the mirror, turning around while thinking, "You are Super Babysitter, ready to take on this job."

I dialed the number, nestled on the couch, feeling a bit sweaty with nerves. A gentle voice answered, "Hello, this is Lisa. How can I help you?"

"Hi, I’m Jenna. I saw your ad online for a babysitter, and I’m very interested," I adjusted my tone, striving to sound mature and confident.

"Oh, great! We are indeed looking for a suitable babysitter for my son Matthew. Do you have any experience with kids?" Lisa's voice was filled with anticipation.

"I haven’t taken care of kids before," I admitted, "but I really love children and am eager to try."

"That’s a start! We hope to find someone who can connect well with Matthew. Are you available on weekends?" Lisa asked.

"I can arrange my schedule for weekends. If possible, could I come over to meet you?" My heart raced with excitement and anxiety.

"Of course, let’s meet on Saturday. Thank you, Jenna! I look forward to seeing you." Lisa's tone was reassuring.

After hanging up, I took a deep breath, relieved. This could be a brand new adventure for me. "Alright, Jenna, you’re not just going to stay in books; it’s time to step outside. This will be your new journey," I encouraged myself in the mirror.

Amy popped her head in, looking surprised. "Did you really just call? You can’t be serious!"

I nodded, a smile spreading across my face. "I called! I’m going to meet him this Saturday."

"That’s amazing, I can’t believe it." Amy feigned shock, "I knew you were the kind of girl who could turn anything into something great!"

This reminded me of those times when I often trapped myself in daydreams, hoping for good fortune, and now I had finally taken that step. Interacting with children would be a new and challenging experience.

That night, I lay in bed, my mind racing with thoughts about the upcoming job. My emotions were like a rollercoaster, filled with anticipation and a bit of nervousness. But more importantly, I felt excited about the possibility of intertwining Matthew's laughter with my life. I imagined running and playing with Matthew in the park.

On Friday, I could hardly focus on my studies, constantly searching for any tips on caring for children. I researched techniques, especially on how to handle their tantrums and keep them smiling. Every piece of information convinced me that if I put my heart into it and learned their language, I could manage it all.

When Saturday finally arrived, I felt rejuvenated, filled with excitement. I wore my favorite outfit, a lively yet appropriate look, hoping to present my best self to Matthew.

Standing at Lisa's door, I silently vowed, "I will be a superhero in Matthew's eyes."

As this new adventure awaited, I knew it wasn’t just a simple trial; it was a step toward my independent life. I reminded myself to keep things simple and pure for every child, fully embracing the joy of this job.

"When the door opens, your smile is the best pass," I set this rule for myself, taking a deep breath, ready to embark on this journey.
